Aims of the Project:

  • promote a stable scientific collaboration among experts in analysis, mathematical physics and numerical analysis for the mathematical modeling of quantum systems, which can be of interest for applications in nanosciences;

  • establish a stable contact with physicists and engineers who have experience in the phenomenology connected with nanosize device structures; these contacts will be particularly important as a source of mathematical problems relevant for applications;

  • organize training activities for young people; in fact, in our project a central role will be played by the activity of formation, through the direct organization of schools and informal workshops and also supporting the participation to schools and conferences organized by other international institutions.

Subjects of Research:

  • Analytical and numerical methods for charge transport in semiconductors;

  • Spectral analysis and scattering theory for Schroedinger operators;

  • Born-Oppenheimer approximation and classical properties in quantum systems;

  • Effective equations for quantum systems of infinite particles;

  • Dispersive estimates and nonlinear evolution problems.
